    Essay Contest Winner

    Jillian Menees, 5th grader at Black Oak, won second place in the state for the essay she submitted for the Farm Bureau-sponsored essay contest. She was invited to the Farm Bureau Women's Leadership Conference in Lebanon, TN on Saturday, April 23, where she was awarded with a certificate and a check for $200. Her mother, Misty Menees, accompanied her along with her ELA teacher, Mrs. Sarah McAlexander.

    Young Paleontologists

    Mr. Michael Quinton, 2nd grade student teacher, shared many fossils with his students. The junior paleontologists sorted the fossils into categories as they used magnifying glasses to examine the fossils during reading class.

    Pluss Class Trip

    Black Oak and Lake Road Plus classes, sponsored by Jolinda Gurien and Jennifer Robertson, recently attended an overnight field trip to Coon Creek Science Center in Adamsville, TN. The students spent the night and participated in a fossil dig and then learned how to clean and preserve what they found. Coon Creek Science Center is an educational study site for the University of Tennessee at Martin.

    Obion Co. Public Library Visits

    Miss Ali's class enjoyed a visit from Mrs. Ashley and Mrs. Alex from the OCPL! They made a fun craft to go along with the theme of this year's Summer Reading Program!   • EARLY MORNING / AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM HOURS:         

    6:45 A.M. - 7:30 A.M. (before) 3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. (after) This has a cost to attend.

    NO STUDENTS MAY BE DROPPED OFF BEFORE 6:45! 

     

    TIME DOORS WILL OPEN FOR ALL STUDENTS: 7:30  Any students who are dropped off prior to this time will go to the before school program.

    Buses will unload and students will be allowed to go to their rooms.  Breakfast will be served starting at this time.  Breakfast will be available to ALL students at no cost and will be served in the classrooms this year.

    PICK UP TIME IN THE AFTERNOON: 3:00

    PREK TIMES - 8:30 - 2:30
