Essay Contest Winner
Jillian Menees, 5th grader at Black Oak, won second place in the state for the essay she submitted for the Farm Bureau-sponsored essay contest. She was invited to the Farm Bureau Women's Leadership Conference in Lebanon, TN on Saturday, April 23, where she was awarded with a certificate and a check for $200. Her mother, Misty Menees, accompanied her along with her ELA teacher, Mrs. Sarah McAlexander.
Mr. Michael Quinton, 2nd grade student teacher, shared many fossils with his students. The junior paleontologists sorted the fossils into categories as they used magnifying glasses to examine the fossils during reading class.
