OCMS volleyball recently came away with a strong showing against Lake County, earning wins in the JV matchup and both varsity games during the doubleheader.

The Lady Rebels brought energy and determination to the court, putting together a successful night across all three games. In varsity action, Molly Dean led the floor with nine attacks, providing a strong offensive presence throughout the matches.

Darcie Buckland and Emmaline Johnson each recorded 11 assists, helping keep the offense moving and setting up their teammates for scoring opportunities.

At the service line, Layah Anderson led the way with nine aces, giving OCMS an added advantage and helping the team maintain momentum.

With wins in the JV contest and both varsity games, OCMS showed a strong all-around performance and continued to build momentum as the season moves forward. Way to go Lady Rebels!

Obion County Central High School's golf team picked up a team victory over South Fulton High School on Monday, finishing with a combined score of 206 compared to SFHS’s 225.

Garrison Clark led OC with a score of 46, followed by Sam Russell and Braden Simpson, who each carded a 51. Holdan Cary finished with a 58, while Owen Gorbes recorded a 62 to round out the team score.

SFHS was led by Aiden R., who finished with a 52. Tucker H. followed with a 54, while Andy R. posted a 56. Waylon H. finished with a 63, and Knox B. recorded a 66.

OC’s consistent scoring across the lineup helped the team finish 19 strokes ahead of SFHS and secure the win.

On Tuesday, OCCHS picked up a strong team victory over SFHS, finishing with a team score of 193 to SFHS’s 212.

Garrison led the way for OCCHS with an impressive round of 44. Braden followed with a 46, while John Reed carded a 47. Holdan finished with a 56, and Owen added a 58 to complete the OCCHS team score.

SFHS was led by Tucker H. and Aiden R., who each finished with a 52. Andy R. was close behind with a 53, followed by Knox B. with a 56 and Waylon H. with a 60.

Obion County Central High School's balanced scoring throughout the lineup helped the team finish 19 strokes ahead of South Fulton High School and secure the victory.

Thursday's match saw South Fulton High School at Martin Westview and also included Clarksburg High School. Westview’s golf team turned in a strong performance, finishing first in the three-team matchup with a team score of 164.

Charlie S. led the way for Westview with an impressive round of 37. Price L. followed with a 40, while Wes H. carded a 42. William B. finished with a 45, and Austin M. rounded out the team with a 48.

South Fulton High School finished second with a team total of 228. Tucker led SFHS with a 54, followed by Knox with a 56 and Andy with a 57. Aiden finished with a 61, while Waylon posted a 62.

Clarksburg finished third with a team score of 231. Gabriel D. led the team with a 57, while Reagan, Jacob and Remington each finished with a 58. Eli rounded out the Clarksburg lineup with a 62.

Although neither the JV nor varsity volleyball teams at Obion County Middle School came away with a victory yesterday in Newbern, both squads continued to show determination, positivity and a willingness to compete from start to finish.

Darcie Buckland led the team with 11 assists, helping keep the offense moving throughout the match. Emmaline Ogden added five assists in a strong setting performance.

Molly Dean led the attack with two kills and also contributed two blocks at the net. In the back row, Marley Jones kept the defense active with five digs.

Despite the loss, the team continued to battle and put everything they had on the court.

The girls and boys cross country teams from Obion County Middle School both captured first-place team finishes at their latest meet, putting together strong performances across the field.

The girls were led by a collection of medal-winning performances. Bella Ross claimed first place, while Davie Wilds finished third. Kinley Burress placed sixth, followed by Addie Easterwood in seventh and Emeri Bell Hicks in eighth. Haegan Eaves added a ninth-place finish, while Joanna Elam finished 13th.

On the boys' side, John Sawyer led the way with a second-place finish. Logan Evans crossed the finish line in sixth, followed by Ryder Willoughby in seventh. Harvey Nazarin finished 10th, Noah Chandler placed 12th, and Kyan Killingsworth rounded out the medalists with a 14th-place finish.

In addition to the varsity success, the teams had a strong showing in the junior varsity races, with plenty of runners earning ribbons.

With both varsity squads taking home team championships, the meet provided another impressive showing for the program and highlighted the depth and talent throughout both the girls' and boys' teams.

Clanton Leads South Fulton Middle School Ground Game as Team Starts Season 2-0

South Fulton Middle School has opened its football season with a perfect 2-0 record, powered by a strong rushing attack and a balanced defensive effort.

Kade Clanton turned in a standout performance on the ground, carrying the ball eight times for 241 yards. His performance highlighted a productive night for the South Fulton rushing attack.

Gavin Goldbeck added 80 yards on 13 carries, while Abe Morris rushed three times for 40 yards. Holden Crabtree contributed 36 yards on six carries.

Clanton also led the way defensively with five tackles. Morris recorded four tackles, while Evan Mohr and Mason McDonald each finished with three tackles.

With the 2-0 start, South Fulton Middle will look to remain unbeaten when the team returns home next Thursday to take on Ballard County.

The matchup will give South Fulton Middle an opportunity to build on its strong opening to the season and continue its early-season momentum.

OCCHS Cross Country Teams Shine at Dresden Invitational
The Obion County Central High School cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Dresden Invitational, with the Lady Rebels capturing the girls’ team championship and the boys finishing third overall.
The OCCHS girls dominated the team competition, earning the championship with a team score of 40 points.
Leading the way for the Lady Rebels was Ainsley Sadler, who finished seventh with a time of 23:38. Klicey Campbell followed closely behind, placing eighth in 23:46. Chloe Adcock finished 14th with a time of 25:37, while Riley Moore placed 22nd in 26:13. Katy Frazier rounded out the team’s scoring runners with a 30th-place finish in 27:53.
Moore also received the meet’s Anchor Award, adding another honor to an impressive day for the Lady Rebels.
The OCCHS boys also posted a strong team performance, finishing third overall with 144 points.
Briar Lofton led the Rebels with a time of 19:50, followed by Carter Molands at 20:10 and Brady Dunn at 20:23. Zach Chumley crossed the finish line in 20:46, while Ryder Hutcheson posted a time of 21:22. Sawyer Homra finished in 21:27, and Jonathan Schierbaum recorded a time of 21:41.
Both OCCHS squads demonstrated strong depth and determination throughout the meet. The girls’ championship and the boys’ third-place finish highlight the continued success of the Rebels cross country program.

South Fulton Middle School won big over Jr High Lady Jackets 11-5 on Tuesday.

South Fulton Middle School jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after an error scored one run, and Olivia Morehead singled, scoring the second run.

The Red Devils added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Morehead tripled to right field, and Aniston Allen lined out, each scoring one run.

On the mound, Olivia Morehead earned the win for South Fulton Middle. The hurler surrendered two hits and five runs over six innings, striking out 15 and walking 14.

Olivia Morehead led South Fulton Middle School with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Morehead and Aniston Allen were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for South Fulton Middle School. Emma Hamrick led South Fulton Middle School with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Aveyanna Johnson stole two bases. South Fulton Middle School didn't commit a single error.

South Fulton Middle School will travel to Graves County Middle for their next game on Thursday.

On the mound, Olivia M. went two and one-third innings, surrendering 10 runs (eight earned) on eight hits, striking out one and walking three.
Emma H. went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead South Fulton Middle School in hits. Aveyanna J. led South Fulton Middle School with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 12 walks for the game.
Next up for South Fulton Middle School is a game at Greenfield Jr High today at 5pm.

Obion County Middle School Cross Country had another impressive meet yesterday with the girls team taking 1st place and the boys team taking 2nd place. Bella Ross led the Rebel runners with a 2nd place win while Nora Wilds finished 5th, Davie Wilds finished at 7th, and Joanna Elam finished in 9th place. South Fulton Middle School Red Devils football was recently victorious over West Carroll Middle School with a final score of 36-6.
The Red Devils piled up 294 yards on just 16 carries, averaging an impressive 18.4 yards per carry.
Kade Clanton led the way on the ground, breaking loose for 113 yards on five carries. Clanton also made his impact defensively, recording six tackles and recovering a fumble.
Gavin Goldbeck provided another big-play threat, rushing three times for 75 yards while making a team-high 10 tackles on defense. His combination of explosive running and strong defensive play helped set the tone throughout the game.
Abe Morris added 57 yards on five carries and contributed five tackles, giving the offense another reliable weapon while making plays on the defensive side.
Holden Crabtree made the most of his lone opportunity, ripping off a 33-yard run, while Daveon Pettigrew added 16 yards on one carry. Isaac Jackson also contributed with one rushing attempt.
Defensively, the team was led by Goldbeck's 10 tackles, followed by Clanton with six, Morris with five and Evan Mohr with four.
With explosive plays coming from multiple players on offense and a balanced defensive effort, the team turned in a strong all-around performance, highlighted by big plays and physical play on both sides of the ball. Keep the momentum going Red Devils!

Obion County Schools is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $5,000 grant to establish a new robotics program for its students at Obion County Middle School. The grant was awarded through a partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc. (BVI).

The newly awarded grant will provide students with hands-on opportunities to explore robotics, engineering, coding, problem-solving, and teamwork. The program is designed to introduce students to STEM careers and help them develop skills that will benefit them in the classroom and beyond.

The program will introduce students in grades 6-8 through a dedicated STEM/Robotics class during the school day as well as an after-school robotics club. As the program develops, the school hopes to expand participation and provide students with opportunities to participate in robotics competitions and other STEM-related events.

Obion County Middle School participated in its first Cross Country meet of the season and ran away with an impressive 25 runners earning medals. 7th grader Bella Ross took home the 1st place medal while each 7th grade girl on the team took home a medal for their performances. Joanna Elam and Harley Hunter set personal records and Logan Evans shaved nearly 2 minutes off his time from last year. Way to run Rebels. You make us proud!
